Rainbow SOMA/Mission District. The mecca for bulk food and products! Come visit if you are in town, it is the bulk food store others aspire to be!
Local Mission Market Mission District.
Canyon Market Glen Park with surprisingly a lot of bulk in a small store.
Other Avenues Outer Sunset co-op.
Berkeley Bowl- Two locations in Berkeley, CA

Whole Foods Lots of locations in SF Bay Area, countrywide and a few in the UK.
Sprouts- Locations in 15 states, locally in Daly City, Oakland and Albany, CA. Just BYO containers, they only have plastic bags. Ask for a manager to deduct the TARE weights of your own containers at checkout.
Fresh Thyme Locations in 10 Midwest states.
Hawaii
Down to EarthKahului, Maui, Hawaii. Lots of bulk food, reusable products.
Mana Foods Paia, Maui, Hawaii. Biggest bulk department in the state.

Plastic Film Recycling (US and Canada) To find out how and where to recycle plastic film/soft plastics like plastic bags, produce bags, TP plastic wrapper, etc.
What Bin (California, Oregon and Seattle) Search by item to find out what goes in what bin and where you can recycle other odd items.
Recycle Now (UK) find out where to recycle particular items.
Recology (serving California, Oregon and Seattle) Find out general info about recycling, composting, landfill and where to recycle bulky items (and free pick-ups!), and household waste. As of July 2017, accepting: plastic film and used textiles/fabric, just put them all in a plastic bag in your blue bin.
Cole Hardware (San Francisco locations) Recycling drop-off for cell phones, batteries, paint, light bulbs, ink cartridges, soft plastics and scrap metal.
Donations and second-hand finds
SCRAP (San Francisco drop-off site) To recycle art and educational supplies. They also accept old photographs, negatives and slides.
Building REsources (San Francisco drop-off site, pick up available) To recycle (or buy) used building and landscape materials.
Community Thrift (San Francisco) To donate clothes and household items. Choose the charity you'd like the money from your donations to go to from a list of over 100 local charities. The money goes back into the community and the items are sold here!
Kidizen Second-hand kid's clothes, buy and sell. (similar to Thred Up, and Poshmark)
Films and media
A Plastic Ocean (available on Netflix) A documentary about plastics in our oceans, with a glimmer of hope.
Just Eat It (available on Amazon) A documentary about food waste and food recovery. A couple decides to stop grocery shopping and live off of recovered food waste.
Bag It (available on Amazon and itunes) A documentary about plastic bags and plastic products in our life and how they effect our health.
Adam Ruins Everything- (available on Netflix) Episode "Going Green"
PBS News Hour in collaboration with NPR News story about food waste.
