Southern Italy

Travelling through Southern Italy I am inspired by the warm light and beautiful scenery. The juxtaposition of nature, the human-made, and decay fascinate me. The old and the new, the ancient and the modern converge in layers as you walk around any city or town. I see formal beauty in the placement of objects, line, and form that I create as I frame my photograph. Sometimes I find subtle humor in contrasting elements, and other times more questions arise about a place.

Southern Italy has in many ways been left to its own devices, revealing its strong history and roots, alongside the vibrant and disenchanted culture of the present. I strive to portray my subjects honestly, while giving the viewer a glimpse of scenes that they may have overlooked on their travels or in their day-to-day life. I am endlessly captivated exploring these beautiful sunbaked landscapes touched by humankind.
